Natural Pemberton
November 2006
Without a doubt Pemberton is one of the most beautiful parts of Western Australia. Renowned for its karri forests and national parks, this is the heart of the south west.
You can start by National Park hopping – choose from D’Entrecasteaux, Beedelup, Warren, Gloucester and Shannon or alternate them with nearby State Forests - Diamond, Treen Brook, Brockman and Big Brook State, just to mention a few. Take in stunning vistas from the top of a climbing tree (Diamond, Gloucester and Bicentennial).
Water is never far away either - the ocean and Yeagarup dunes or the Donnelly River and Goblin Swamp. And in the evenings watch a magnificent sunset going down over the karri forest whilst sipping some local wines, made from some of Australia’s best vineyards.
The Pemberton Visitors centre offers an interactive display to help discover and understand the rich history of the Pemberton Region. You can also drive through some beautiful farm land where the fertile soils produces a wide range of fruit and veg.
The Pemberton Backpackers YHA is located right in town with the Bibbulmun Track only a few steps away. A warm, friendly atmosphere awaits you backed up with local knowledge on what to see and do.
